How I Work
I believe that each person I work with has their own particular circumstances and reasons for wanting to come to therapy, so I want each of my clients to feel safe in telling me things that may be very personal and private.
I will provide a confidential and non-judgemental space for you to express whatever you feel and I will provide honest feedback where it will be of benefit to you. We can arrange to meet in person, or online via Skype, so we can make your therapy suit your needs and lifestyle.
The First Session
It can be a bit daunting to start talking to a stranger about things that you might not have told anyone else, so everything that we do will be taken at your pace. The most important thing at this stage is that you feel comfortable in saying however much or little as you want to say; we can take our time.
We may talk about your life history or how you currently see yourself and other people, but there will be a joint aim to explore the things in your life that matter to you. From there, we can start to piece together what may be the fundamental causes of your distress, what may be keeping you from moving on and how to address these issues to reach a calmer, more flexible state of mind.
You may have already been given a medical diagnosis, such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or a personality disorder, or you might be dealing with grief, substance abuse or other addiction. You might be feeling sad or feeling stressed, but whilst we work together, we will consider everything that may be affecting the way you are currently feeling.
I will help you reflect on your experience with the aim of gaining some clarity on what may be distressing you, but You will be the one making the significant changes in your life and finding your own path to a more peaceful way of being,
